Hidden but significant
Since the task was to highlight the importance of women in invention, considering the fact that their significance was long hidden and their contributions often attributed to male directors due to the patriarchal system, I decided to draw attention to this through the design. I chose to use semi-transparent paper with puzzle pieces layered on top, symbolizing crucial elements in our lives and, in this context, in invention as a whole, as well as symbolizing logic and intelligence. Under the semi-transparent paper, six inventions are visible, which we have agreed together with the Panentamt team. Also the idea of a rope that serves as an element to be able to hang this work in your office or room. The combination of Japanese paper and thread is aesthetic element that would add lightness and more sensitivity to the work.
