I think “writing” is a misnomer. I want to help students figure out what they personally have to say and how to relate that essence to a specific topic. The right words will then come naturally.

Communication—discovering and telling the story behind it—has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. I got my start in communications early on; in 2000, as a partner, I founded Jung von Matt/Donau, an agency that has helped shape Austria’s advertising history over the past two decades. These stories also find their way out through me and my band in the form of the “Wienerlied”—it’s just that you rarely get to choose that form. Before Matthias Spaetgens joined the university, I had the honor of serving as Walter Lürzer’s substitute for a year at the Angewandte.
