In exceptional cases, applicants may also take the exam in English. <br\/><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Requirements for our students:<br\/>Unconventional ideas, a passion for creative expression, clear thinking, the ability to express oneself precisely both verbally and in writing, the ability to work in a team, an interest in social, cultural, and economic contexts, perseverance, and a good command of German. A high school diploma (Matura) from a general-education high school (AHS) is not a requirement. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klassefuerideen.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Info_CommunicationDesign_2026.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Information in English<\/a> + <a href=\"https:\/\/www.klassefuerideen.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Hausaufgabe_Zulassungspruefung_Kommuniaktionsdesign.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Homework<\/a><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Overview of the Licensing Exam  <\/strong><br\/><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Section 1: Portfolio Upload and Exam Eligibility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Submission of application materials (portfolio and work samples, homework assignment,<br\/>, motivation video, copies of transcripts, resume)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Invitation to Section 2<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>After the application deadline, your application will be reviewed and evaluated by a panel of judges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligible applicants will then be invited to take Section 2 of the entrance exam.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All applicants will be notified by email whether or not they have been invited to Stage 2.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Section 2: Examination<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exam with theoretical and practical tasks<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meeting with the Class Teachers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selection of applicants who qualify for the program\u2014beginning in October\u2014<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Detailed Information on <strong>Section 1<\/strong><\/strong>: <strong>Portfolio Upload and Exam Eligibility<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Contents of the Application<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work and samples of work: Applicants should submit relevant work that demonstrates their engagement with design within the context of their educational background to date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A one-sentence description of the project or a list of key points, along with information about the context (group project, individual project, school project, personal project, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your portfolio includes films, please include still images or screenshots from them in your application and provide a separate link to the actual film.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A homework assignment on a given topic:<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><\/mark> <mark style=\"background-color:#fcb900\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.klassefuerideen.at\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Hausaufgabe_Zulassungspruefung_Kommuniaktionsdesign.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This can be downloaded here as a PDF<\/a><\/strong><\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motivational video: max. one minute, unedited, cell phone video: Please explain in the video your creative intentions and motivation for wanting to study in the &#8220;Class for Ideas.&#8221; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resume: Well-written in table format (1 to 2 pages): Please include your date of birth, educational background, and, if applicable, work experience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Copies of transcripts and any references.<br\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Application Format<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Due to the large number of applications, we ask that you submit a portfolio that is clearly structured and easy to review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PDF (max. 50 MB)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Videos embedded in the PDF or provided as links (with no expiration date and no password-protected platforms).<br\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Online Registration and Upload of Documents<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>January 8, 2026, through January 22, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. (CET)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Upload: <a href=\"http:\/\/application.uni-ak.ac.at\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">application.uni-ak.ac.at<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For more information: <a href=\"https:\/\/dieangewandte.at\/studienbewerbung\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/dieangewandte.at\/studienbewerbung<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Detailed information on <strong>Section<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong> 2: <strong>Examination<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The exam will take place from February 23, 2026, through February 27, 2026, in our classrooms.
