Typographic design combines precise observation with creative thinking, leading designers to consciously refine their own approach and methodology in the design process. Lisa Schultz\u2019s course focuses on the development of new interpretations of the \u201creading typeface\u201d<\/em> genre\u2014typefaces designed for extended reading and analyzed for readability, rhythm, and expressiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Designing typefaces involves looking closely, identifying formal characteristics, and understanding their effects in order to make design decisions based on that understanding. The projects presented here document this process\u2014they are conceptual works that offer insights into different approaches, ways of thinking, and aesthetic positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
