Our programme stands for conception and creation.
Our aim is to prepare our students for consultant and creative advertising careers in a dynamic labour market.
Our Graphics and Advertising programme therefore provides students with the required theoretical and practical knowledge largely based on concrete projects. Students acquire in-depth practical skills in graphics and the basic principles of design and production. They perfect their drawing ability and learn what good typography is all about. Besides the basics of marketing, our students learn how to devise convincing communication strategies to interact with their target groups as effectively as possible.
The artistic focus of this programme encompasses the methodical development and visualisation of ideas, analysing and perfecting advertising communication, art direction (scribbles, layout, typography, illustration, packaging design and photography) and creation of TV adverts (treatments and storyboards). Besides this key focus, the programme also includes courses such as life drawing and studies of nature, copywriting, history of culture, art history, social sciences, advertising psychology, communication theory, colour theory, media theory, theory and history of design, marketing, contract law and copyright law, photography, film and video, as well as media technology.
The diploma programme Graphics and Advertising lasting eight semesters is part of the School of Design at University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Our graduates are specially trained to develop and realise advertising concepts. They qualify for a whole range of careers as graphic artists, copywriters, junior art directors, art directors, creative directors and advertising managers in advertising agencies or departments of firms and other organisations.
