Lecture: Japanese Rooms

Further preparation for our trip to Japan: Sven Ingmar Thies presents his “Japanese Rooms” photo and book project which won the iF communication design award in gold.

For over nine years, Sven Ingmar Thies has taken photos of and interviewed Japanese people at their homes in Tokyo, Berlin, Shanghai, New York and Vienna, seeking answers to the following:

How do the Japanese live in Japan? How do they live abroad? Do they create their own culture in foreign cities? And what do they take with them from home? Feelings, things – sensuous or tangible memories?
